Gig Recap

DJ Music night club

Over this past week I had quite the variety of Gigs.

Friday night I had the opportunity to perform once again with the cover band “TBA” at Cowboy Ninja. We as a band performed for the Make-A-Wish Foundation the previous Saturday, and we reunited again to perform for the Saipan Relief efforts from Typhoon Goni. It was definitely a great night. We had the Youthful Elders opening things up with an acoustic set, and then TBA started at about 930pm. We performed a good variety of 90s tracks as well as a few early 2000s songs as well whilst in between sets I was on the turntables to keep the vibe going. It was a good crowd and we were blessed by many random non-islanders supporting us and singing along to each song. Overall great night and another great experience with the band, shout out to Gen, Eric, Eugene, Matt, Rob, Mike, Bok, Sabby, Doug, John, Keoni, and Joy for holding things down Friday, and of course to all the other group members Louise, Karl, & RD. Although we weren’t the full band we had fun and did our best to show that Guam has good local talent.

Saturday was a long day for me. Had work in the morning and then later on DJ Sylnt and I DJied for our good friend Pauly X’s mother and daughter’s bday party in Asan. Honestly it was really fun. I usually don’t DJ fiesta/local parties but we would do anything to help out the homie Pauly. Night started well with the reggae jams blaring through our speakers and thankfully G-Duppy made a good slew of reggae remixes of modern/current songs that helped keep the vibe going. Unfortunately Sylnt had to leave for another gig over at Livehouse, so I was stuck in a unfamiliar space. I am not a great DJ when it comes to playing mobile music, so it was definitely a struggle. Playing chacha songs that I haven’t played in years as well as “line dance” music was rough. I am happy that Sylnt kept me up to date and Pauly was there supporting as I struggled through the night trying to figure out what I was doing. Literally even yelling it out to Pauly. All jokes aside it was a fun gig, shout out to Fusion Dance Group for the performances, and also Pauly and Tish for getting things together. Food was great. Thanks for having Sylnt and I DJ for your family.
